YQB U.S. customs preclearance facility takes a new stride forward

Quebec, December 12, 2016 – The U.S. customs preclearance opportunity has taken a major step forward with the United States Congress adopting a bill that will facilitate its implementation.
This critical step results from the March 10, 2016, meeting between American President Barack Obama and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau when they “committed to make our borders more open and more secure”, notably by expanding preclearance at Jean Lesage International Airport in Quebec City.

Building on its 75-year history of serving the people of greater Québec City, YQB has great things in store, including the ongoing YQB 2018 expansion project and the recently announced plans for a U.S. preclearance center.
Québec City, June 18, 2016. – Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) has had to carry out runway repairs to ensure the safety of all passengers. The runway intersection repairs were completed during the night of Friday to Saturday, and the main runway became fully operational on Saturday, June 18, 2016, a day before the original deadline. The airport remained open and operational for airlines and passengers throughout the repairs.

Québec City, June 8, 2016 – Aéroport de Québec inc. (AQi) welcomes the Québec government’s newly tabled Bill 109, which, in addition to granting the City of Québec new powers in its role as capital city, modernizes the airport authority’s Payments in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) system to align with practices elsewhere in the country.
